Staff Pick: Jordan Creek Greenway

Category Spotlight On | Posted on January 30, 2017

It’s impossible to pick just one favorite greenway in Springfield, but our Ozark Greenways staff wants to share a few of their recommended trail spots! The first of our “staff picks” goes to Program Coordinator, Lori Tack.

Jordan Creek Greenway is currently in 3 sections that will eventually connect. On its north end, the trail connects Smith Park to Silver Springs Park and then zigzags through OTC and under Chestnut Expressway. From there the route briefly follows Sherman Avenue, then west through Jordan Valley Park. Future plans will connect the trail west to the section that Lori chose to highlight: Start at Cruse Dog Park and go through Ewing Park and back.

“I’ve always liked this section for a 30-60 minute walk, but it’s easy to forget about since it’s tucked away waiting for its other sections to connect. Start at Cruse Dog Park on Grand, just west of Kansas Expressway, and walk or run out and back. I always laugh watching the adorable dogs running ‘free’ inside the fenced dog park. A beautiful foggy winter landscape was a scenic bonus while I was there recently!”
