Volunteer Workdays
Join us on various trail projects.
We've held volunteer workdays on the third Saturday of each month for years, but recently decided to go quarterly. Projects include limb clearing to tree planting and more. It's a fun way to get outside, get exercise and help the trails! Check here for details as projects come.
Workdays on New Mountain Bike Trail
Saturdays and Sundays (weather permitting) 8am-Noonish or later
Help build the new mountain bike portion of the Frisco Highline Trail! Meet at Junction Cafe/Bullseye gas station parking lot on north end of Willard, at intersection of Highway 160 and FR 123. If possible, bring: water, gatorade, snacks, work gloves, chain saws, heavy rakes, loppers, pruners, machetes, shovels. No RSVP needed, but if you have questions, contact Chris McNeese at A & B Cycle, 866-1999.
Subaru IMBA Trail Crew School coming to town
Thursday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 4
If you'd like to learn how to build mountain biking trails, here's a terrific opportunity to learn from the best! Subaru sponsors the IMBA Trail Care Crew (International Mountain Biking Association) and they're coming to Springfield to share their wisdom.The entire event is free, but $5-$10 donations toward lunch is appreciated.
Thurs, Feb. 2, 4PM - "Better Living Through Trails" presentation, upstairs at Springfield Brewing Company. Appetizers 5:30PM, and Subaru "Club Care" presentation at 6PM.
Saturday, Feb. 4, 9AM-Noon
- Classroom portion at Nature Center, lunch provided
Saturday, Feb. 4, 1-5PM
- Hands-on trail work at Busiek State Forest (Please don't attend work portion if you can't make the classroom portion.)

13th annual Ozark Greenways Adventure Race - coming to Springfield!
Saturday, May 12
Hot off the presses - OGAR is coming very close to Springfield in 2012, headquartering out of the Willard Trailhead on the Frisco Highline Trail! Save the date because this popular premier race has brought people in from around the country and now we'd like to bring it to our own backyard. Registration will open online only March 1.
Stay tuned for details about this secretive and challenging multisport race that will offer a short-course for both beginners and a long-course for more the adventurous. Four and two-person teams compete together mountain biking, running, canoeing, orienteering and more. It's also the largest annual fundraiser for Springfield's trail network!
